Thursday 7 January 2010

Well, it seems a long time ago now, but Christmas in Cornwall saw me in festive spirit!

And Eric the cat joined in with the celebrations too.

Christmas morning and guess what? Turkey was stuffed and in the oven, sprouts were peeled, pud was ready and.......................... we were off to the beach for a walk !

It was a fantastic sunny morning so we headed off to Fistral beach in Newquay. This is Anne's son, Matthew who was with us for Christmas. The hotel in the background is the Headland and probably the biggest in Newquay.

There were quite a few brave souls surfing even on Christmas Day, but I chose not to join them!
Waves were great but sea temperature was about 9 degrees.

New Years Eve we were off on our travels again and this time the Watering Hole pub on Perrenporth beach was calling.

But not before another walk along the cliff top. It was cold but there were lots of people out on the beach.

But the pub was toasty and we enjoyed some good food before returning home to celebrate the arrival of the New Year.

This week has brought lots of snow to Cornwall which is quite unusual. I should be in Spain now but plane couldn't get off the ground at Newquay because of the bad weather, missed my connection at Gatwick - had a tantrum when I got home!
And to add insult to injury it cost me £23 for the taxi.
Never mind, lets go for a walk!!!!!

Rabbit prints in the snow.

In the woods behind our house.

Someone delivered us a ready-made snowman
- could be a new business venture, perhaps - home delivery reaches new heights!

We thought we were finished with snow yesterday but this morning saw a fresh delivery, Anne's school was closed so we went out to play!

On the balcony overlooking the field behind our house.

Hurry up, it's freezing out here!

We went to the pub for lunch ( ham, egg and chips - yum ) and on our return there had been another special delivery - think it's Mr and Mrs! Not too sure where they are coming from but suspect our neighbours. (Anne's son and his housemate)

Eric has been sulking for the last few days because he has not be able to catch anything and doesn't like the snow but today he decided it was quite good fun after all and spent an hour playing out in it, best bit was when he walked on water....the pond is frozen.
Happy New Year to All
Hope 2010 is a good one for you.
